For years, I didn’t know how to let go of guilt when I needed rest.
Even when I was overwhelmed or exhausted, I pushed myself harder—telling myself I should be doing more.
I believed that slowing down was a weakness.
I thought that if I just pushed a little more, I’d finally feel caught up… finally feel worthy.
But it didn’t work.
1️⃣ Why Letting Go of Guilt Was So Hard for Me (And So Many Others)
Every time I tried to rest, I felt a wave of guilt wash over me.
I would hear that inner voice whispering:
“Shouldn’t you be doing something right now?”
I started questioning:
🔹 Why I felt guilty for resting
🔹 If I was just lazy for needing a break
🔹 Or if I had misunderstood what rest really meant
2️⃣ 3 Beliefs That Made It Hard to Let Go of Guilt
Looking back, I realized that my guilt wasn’t because I was doing something wrong—
It was because of the stories I believed about rest.
❌ Belief #1: Rest Is Lazy
I believed that productive people didn’t rest—that rest was for when everything else was done.
But everything was never done.
💡 The Truth: Rest isn’t laziness. It’s what makes your energy sustainable.
❌ Belief #2: I Have to Earn Rest
I thought I had to check off every task before I could take a break.
And if I didn’t “deserve” it, I felt ashamed for even needing it.
💡 The Truth: You don’t need permission to pause.
❌ Belief #3: Slowing Down Means Falling Behind
I worried that if I slowed down, everything would unravel.
So I kept rushing—fueled by pressure and fear.
💡 The Truth: Slowing down often helps you move forward with more clarity and strength.
3️⃣ What Finally Helped Me Let Go of Guilt
Once I realized my guilt was rooted in beliefs—not truth—everything shifted.
Here’s what helped me release the pressure:
✅ I started scheduling “slow mornings” where I didn’t rush into the day.
✅ I stopped apologizing for taking breaks—even when others didn’t understand.
✅ I rewrote my beliefs using truth-based affirmations like:
• “Rest is part of my rhythm.”
• “Slowing down helps me show up better.”
💡 The result? I stopped seeing rest as a reward—and started seeing it as a requirement.
💬 What’s One Belief You’re Ready to Release?
Letting go of guilt helped me reclaim my energy and rewrite my story.
✔ You are allowed to do less.
✔ You are allowed to slow down.
✔ You are allowed to rest—even if there’s more to do.
💡 Your peace matters more than your pace.
