How I Rebuilt My Routine to Include More Rest

After experiencing burnout, I realized I needed to include more rest in my daily routine.
I was constantly pushing, doing, and hustling—with no space to recharge. My schedule was full, but my spirit was running on empty.

💡 I didn’t just need a new planner—I needed a new pace.

Why I Needed to Include More Rest

I used to wear busyness like a badge of honor.
If I had free time, I felt like I wasn’t doing enough. But that mindset left me drained, disconnected, and always behind.

✔ I scheduled every minute of my day
✔ I ignored signs of exhaustion
✔ I felt guilty for taking breaks

💡 Eventually, I realized: You can’t create a balanced life without choosing to include more rest.

How I Rebuilt My Routine to Include More Rest (Without Falling Behind)

Instead of cramming more into my day, I focused on subtracting what didn’t serve me. I simplified my schedule and intentionally made rest part of the routine—not just a reward after exhaustion.

🔹 What I Changed:
✅ I added 30-minute buffer zones between tasks to slow down
✅ I created a consistent bedtime and morning wind-down ritual
✅ I stopped multitasking and embraced slow, single-task focus

🚀 The result? I felt more grounded, more present, and even more productive—even though I was technically doing less.

My Rest Routine: Morning, Midday, and Night

💡 Rest isn’t just about sleep—it’s about giving your body and mind a chance to reset throughout the day.

Morning: I wake up slowly, stretch or journal before checking my phone
Midday: I take a quiet lunch break—with no screens or multitasking
Night: I unplug from work, light a candle, and give myself full permission to wind down

These small pauses became sacred—and they changed the way I show up for life.

Why Rest Is Productive

If you’ve been taught to feel guilty for resting, I want you to know this:

Rest is not laziness—it’s leadership. It’s longevity. It’s love.

✔ You don’t have to earn your rest
✔ You don’t have to explain your rest
✔ You don’t have to feel guilty for choosing peace over pressure

💡 Rebuilding your routine to include more rest is one of the most powerful things you can do for your well-being.
